An update of where Friday closed ahead of the next session: markets closed higher Friday; Dow Jones gained 2.47% and closed at 31,083. S&P 500 ended the session at 3,752.75 after a 2.37% gain.
US markets are now currently closed and set to reopen today; meanwhile, European markets are in session with varied performances. Upbeat Asia-Pacific markets ended today higher as ASX 200 is up by 1.54%, hitting 6,779.4.
Though earnings season has just begun, most of the companies in the S&P 500 reporting Q3 results passed Wall Street estimates. Johnson & Johnson and Lockheed Martin are featured this past week; Microsoft & Alphabet results are expected soon.
Friday's gains have given market bulls further impetus to expect strong macro data going forward, such as United States Crude Oil Inventories is projected to outperform its last figure with 1.38 million. It previously stood at -1.73 million; data will be released Wednesday.
Also worthy of note, tomorrow at 14:00 UTC data for United States Consumer Confidence will be released, with an expected decline to 106.5 from the preceding figure of 108.
The market is looking forward to the release of new data: United States New Home Sales (Sep) is expected Wednesday.
While most stocks did well Friday, some did better than others as Vanguard Short-Term Inflation-Protected Securities ETF trades at $47.69 having gained 0.51%. Vanguard Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF (up 0.477%) is also performing well.
